01. To get a 50K, mastering in PHP and MySQL is not always enough. Because employer who offer a job for 50k or more, do not always build their systems using PHP/MySQL.
02. If you have a good proficiency in Microsoft technology with a some working knowledge in .NET, ADO.NET and Web Services, will certainly take you to 50k and plus (depending on your experiences.) Same you can do with Java, and J2EE knowledge. 03. If you see your future as a web developer and want to earn 50k + You have to have following skill (this is the only area (geeks says, low tech area, where you need the mastery of so many skills) - Creativity, and a strong sense of humor - Java script, CSS - PHP or ASP or Perl (depends where you work) - Good knowledge of SQL and relational database concept) - Knowledge of tools for graphic design and Flash Overall, there is no shortcut or quickway to be master @web. You may need some extra wit to cope with the dynamism of web technologies. 04. Following skills are not complicated but relatively rare, will always bring you great job in terms of paychecks. Kernel development Device driver development * But if, unfortunately you got a pinkslip, it may take a while to get the next job with above set of skill. 05. system administrators for Linux, Solaries, AIX, HP, will also bring you a good paycheck, these job are never less than 50k, but these job are never relaxing and always thankless and non creative! Most of the problem you will fix from intuition, while this intuition proportionate to time you spend with the systems, in other word experiences. A Bachelor degree in related field are enough, a Masters or a Ph.D will never bring you big bucks with inadequate industry experiences. Last edited by iahmed : June 4th, 2003 at 04:39 PM. |

some good info there mate...thanks.
Im 14 now and have some big decisions to make in my career... I chose Graphics Design and History for my 2 free GCSE options.. ICT is a core subject so I obviously didnt pick it... Im also doing 3 languages: German, French and Italian What kind of things do you need to have accomplished by University to get into the webdesign business...in terms of qualifications and even work experience Also which is the best university for computers related degrees in England..
