I realise the article is intended for beginners getting into PHP but one thing in particular I have to take issue with amongst the "tips"

Quote:
When designing a site, always do HTML first, then incorporate PHP

There are far better alternatives to designing your "site" (I prefer to call it an application) using object oriented PHP for example, where the HTML is the last think you do. Another option would be to use XML and XSLT, allowing you to generate not just HTML but Flash, PDF, WML, SOAP, XML-RPC, WDDX and anything you care to think of, in a manner that allows you to re-use as much of your coding effort as possible, without having to reproduce everything.

We've been discussing this here at Sitepointforums.

For me, the concept of "multipurpose" pages proposed in this article is irrelevant if you take an object oriented approach to design your application. If you want to find out more, try this collection of Advanced PHP Resources.

Harry, nice to see you here! I'm Agent Dwarf on SPF.

Anyway, I'd like to say that for someone who doesn't want to learn about the ins and outs of OOP for years, this article might be a good alternative.
