Eclipse is an excellent set of classes IMO handling the "low level" stuff in your applications brilliantly. It doesn't get into generation of user interfaces (e.g. HTML) so if you're waiting for Vincent to finish his framework, came across a library which makes a great partner for Eclipse: phpHTMLlib - allows your to generate HTML as object oriented widgets without placing any requirements with what you're doing "lower down" - e.g. how you access your database.

We're gathering a decent collection of links here: http://www.sitepointforums.com/show...&threadid=78687

Otherwise: Thinking in Java (available for download here: http://www.mindview.net/Books) - although it's Java, the OO explainations are excellent (even just reading the first chapter is worthwhile). PHP and Java are not so disimilar anyway so reading the code is not too hard if you've got a good idea of PHP.

Yeah... I've just started reading the book, and it's very good in explaining general concepts of OOP... Even though it's Java-related, Harry's right in saying that anyone can find it easy to understand, especially have knowledge in PHP!
