Choosing the perfect language/API
I'm currently at the beginning of the design phase of an open source mathematica-like program, and I was wondering what your opinions are on various languages/APIs (C# & C++ with interop services, MFC or others). The function parser needs to be able to assemble x86 code during run-time, and I might also want to port this app on Linux. C# seemed like a good choice at first, but I知 not sure on how fast C# will be well adapted on Linux. I知 also not a professional programmer (I知 a physics student doing his masters in photonics), but I知 more than willing to make this project succeed. If anyone wants to help, I知 looking to co-administer this project on sourceforge.net.
