Ethernet Card Problem

I have a Realtek Ethernet Card that is connected to my ADSL modem but it is causing some problems. Whenever I boot up Windows won't let me open any menu's like My Computer, Control Panel, or start my connection. I have determined it spends that time initializing my ethernet card or something. After I startup all my startup programs run but after about 2-3 minutes of idling, it'll load my PPPoE connection program and my Sygate Home Network program. Has anyone else had this problem?

no, it's plugged in, if it wasnt then I wouldn't be able to get online. it's just that it takes a long time to initiliaze.

I had a smilar problem, but when I installed my sound blaster audigy

My system was actually hard-locking after 3 minutes becuase it couldn't load the sound card. After 4 calls to SB's tech support line, and talked to 5 different people, they determined that I need to flash my bios.

Check to see what kind of bios you have, and get the proper update for that. While I have never had any problems flashing a bios ( done it several times ) I suggest backing up your most important data.
