How Can I Find Who Owns An IP Address?
Does anybody know how I can find who owns the IP address "66.166.232.131"?
A crawler or something has been making hundreds of hits on my small web site today. Typically, my web site only gets a few visitors per day. Right here is what one line looks like in the log file: 66.166.232.131 - - [09/Jul/2003:00:10:23 -0700] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 1568 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; AOL 7.0; Windows 98)" "www.theknoxvillelibertarian.com" I think that it may be a spammer trying to collect email addresses. You can get this info from arin.net, though that tells you who owns the block. Most often, you'll find that IP blocks are owned by ISPs or by big companies that own whole segments of the network. In this case, it's a company called Covad Communications, which appears to be an ISP.
