I am having a hard time with why my site is not ranked anywhere close to well on google. That may sound prideful or something, but I am just completely floored by some of the sites that have top position in the categories for which I am aiming.
A prime example is the site at the top of the results for Business Debt Consolidation: http://www.clonecd.net/debt_consolidation_uk.htm This page is not very optimized, it does not have that keyword phrase in the entire copy or code of the site, including keywords, description, and titled. Pagerank is not the answer, because it is a 4, which shouldnt give it the ranking without the keywords, and yet it is number 1. Why? My company's site, http://www.financialtechnologies.com, is trying to target that keyword. We have the keyword 3+ times in the copy, it is 3rd in our keyword list, and prominent in our title and description and our pagerank is the same as that site. Why is their site ranked above ours? I am just trying to reason this out and figure out what I can do better. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks -- Michael Anderson Webmaster Financial Technologies |

1. Your meta description tag contains too many characters.
This tag contains 331 characters. This is too many for what we would consider a 'robot friendly' web page. The maximum number of characters we recommend for this tag is 200. 2. Your keywords tag contains too many keywords. This tag contains 22 keywords. This is too many for what we would consider a 'robot friendly' web page. The maximum number of keywords we recommend for this tag is 20. And your keyword relevancy to page content is poor. The keywords relevancy to page content is 73%. Additionaly I would suggest you to clean up your code and give a bit value to accessibility. For example the profit from accessibility can be seen, where it is a requirement to use meaningfull alt tags and link titles, where you can occasionally use important keywords. But use the keywords there, if they really fit to the content of the graphic or link. The above are the basics, but they make major sence. If all above is done, then think of exchanging links with others, who have at least Google Ranking 5. And you must be very patient until you see the final results. It can take from 1 to 3 months. But its worth to wait. No SEO Professional has an influence on that, so far I know. And if they do, I would investigate that for very possible spaming. If you need any further assistance, let me know.

Have you tried Open Directory? Open Directory is seen by many to be a major step in site optimization. However, be very careful to follow the rules and spend sometime reviewing the forum because they are very particular.
Good Luck (sorry if this posted twice - something went wrong with my first post) http://www.addmap.com |
