Okay here it goes, after sending a few PMs to different users I’m gonna ask the public.
let mw know what you think about my site i just finished it. www.fs3d.com if you have a monitor resolution above 1024 x 786 it is going to be small. I designed it for 800 x 600 and used alot of frames (ya ya ya, i know) so it's not design to stretch down. Rip it good, Thanks, Dave |

Colours are pretty solid...
i didn't find it too small, i'm using 1280x1024 displays fine in Opera 7.11 and IE 6.0 on a personal note, i don't like all caps... i can't find a lowercase letter on the site... =) |

Hey dfano,
Checked out the site... I like the colour scheme... Although some people may find it a little "drab"... One thing I found could be improved was the white text over the grey background... At some points, it looked very washed out, and reading the text became a bit of a chore... My young eyes can take it ( ), but depending on who's visiting your site, they may be annoyed... I'm running at 1400x1050, and didn't find it to be too small. I agree with MadCow, CAPS are a sore sight...

Hey dfano,
I agree with Frankie on the white text over the grey background, it is somewhat difficult to read. Also, the white links on the bottom of the page inside the orange boxes are also hard to read. At a glance I'd think a dark orange/brown color would work good inside as link colors. Overall it's a very nice design and it doesn't seem small in 1024x768 on my monitor.

thanks,
im going to change the bottom when i get a chance. i'm either going to make that pale orange a dark gray or the text darker i have not decided yet. i dont want to bring to much atttention to that bottom bar because it is not that important. Thanks again

I agree about the uppercase. Use it with discretion (maybe just for your buttons and logo). Word recognition is much harder when words are written in all caps instead of title case. You want your users to be able to digest your content as quickly as possible.
I'm thinking as well (*very subjective comment*), that there's just a little too much going on in the background, which again impacts on readability. The number of images are a little distracting. I would try to reduce the number for areas where you plan to include lengthy text. And, as the others have pointed out, use a higher contract between the background and the text. Are the "Goods" really "Products"? I think the latter might be a term more familar to webusers? Notice you got the alt tag for the home button, now you just need to add it for the other buttons and the logo. I might also move the tag line to under the graphic, since they tend to be associated with logos (but then you would want to reduce their size, cause you don't want to push the nav bar too far down). Then your look will be consistent across business cards, print materials, etc (where there is no nav bar). Also, if you're going to have a home button on the home page (which some usability people would argue is a no-no), then perhaps make it clear that the user is on the home page (i.e., have the on button invoked when the page is called) |
