multimedia database in Flash - http://www.ena.lu/dja

Hi,

Here's my last work, it's a multimedia database documenting the history of European integration and enlargement from 1945 to the present day.
It contains a wide variety of documentary resources: contextual documents, interactive maps and diagrams, photos, interviews and original historical documents (press articles, cartoons, notes, etc.).

It's written in Flash (100% actionscript), using postgreSQL database and Coldfusion webservices. Flash Communication Server is used to stream the video & sound. The documents can be printed with the use of Flashpaper technology. This app will soon be released as open source code (can be use with any content).

For the moment I need to ensure that the usability is acceptable. Can you review the site and tell me what you think, Is it easy to use, to understand ?

Thanks in advance,

Necrite.

I think that is pretty easy to understand and well designed. I quite like it. The only thing I don't really like (which can't really be helped), is that you get the loading pages after every click, and the site seems a little slow to respond, especially since much of what it is loading is only text. But otherwise, I like it and I found it easy to use.

Looks pretty thorough - lots of info. Major major problem is that a good resource like this would be made much more useful if google knew about it - because your site is in flash, the content is not going to get indexed, which is a shame. I guess the fact that it's running off a DB means that it isn't a big deal to build an HTML interface.

Another issue - which annoyed me - don't mess with my screen size! I will close pretty much any site that messes with my browser. There didn't seem to be a need to resize.

Usability-wise - looks good. You have used familiar UI widgets (X for close, and the full screen icon) which many users understand the purpose of.

Let us know when you build the HTML version
