relaunch, shameless plug, call it what you will

Greetings.

designplace has relaunched with an xhtml feel, a real lack of sky blue (people who visited the last site will know how it was colored) and a more professional "air"? to it? who knows.

you're all welcome to look at it and pass judgement. feel free to criticise it if necessary, although im not changing it!

ive sort of combined it with http://www.web-development-forums.com - which is my (currently under-used) iB forum - and they run as a bit of a double act.

i hope that you find it useful and can gather meaningful content from it.

I remade it to work in all browsers and be well formed. I also remade it to look more professional and use it as a "showcase" of my "talent" to anybody who might want/need some examples in later life.

notable additions to the previous site:
channels. some xml/rss feeds - which means you can grab external content from within the site, adds another dimension i guess, although joe public would perhaps be confused as to what it was and not spend much time finding out.

search: site search from php.warpedweb.net - indexes based on meta keywords and uses a flat file to store it.

newsletter: another script from warpedweb (he does some handy useful stuff) - im planning on doing a newsletter when some people actually sign up (currently a massive 5 subscribers) and i will make it a decent read every 4-6 weeks or so.

what else...: 1 new tutorial so far, on dreamweaver templates and library items, i dropped 1 tutorial which will remain nameless because it was naff. the rest of them have been copied and some of them slightly amended and all the metadata amended (this took a while)

i think thats about it really. enjoy what it has to offer.

Matt

Hey Matt,
The site's looking good. I like the logo. However, one suggestion, with the email signup text box, you can't really tell its a text box. It looks like its a divider, just like the newsletter divide above it. I think you should either decrease its width, or change the background color of it to white or something.

Matt,

After going to the forum, clicking on you logo does not return you to your sites home page as generally is the 'norm' if there really is one.

Apart from that it looks great.

Ian.

yeah that returns you to the forum index page, i think most forum software does that?

there is a link in the text back to the 'home' page as such, although the forum has its own domain name so its relatively detached.

mytch, i changed my css file for the form inputs slightly, do you think its any better now?
