SEO site for Romania - feedback needed

Hello

I want to start my own SEO company in Romania. I am working on the site: http://play.cpea.ro/ss/ (just a mock up)

I want some feedback regarding Usability and Accessibility. The site is in Romanian and only the front page is finished (almost).

I want to know if the layout is ok and if not, what should I change.

Not a bad site - good layout, clean, easy to read, good to see it validates and uses semantic markup, and uses CSS for all presentation.

Why do i get the feeling you posted here so you'd get more PR to the several sites in your sig???

Heh. My bad. I've copied the signature from another forum.

Fixed it now.

Thanks for the feedback.

One question:

Can you see "Articole" in the left column? Why it sticks to the list above only in Firefox and Mozilla? There should be some space. Check it in IE or Opera.

Looks nice and clean, stuff is laid out nicely. Menu on the left is quite nice.

The only thing I would say is that there are too many font variations. You've got three different colours (black, green and brown), some is bold and some isn't, and some of the links are different colours to others. Perhaps you could reduce the number of variations.

The links are different color because: green links are internal links and brown links are external links.

Maybe it's not a good idea?!

Mmmm - interesting idea. I can't see any real usability issues with it, but it could be a pain to maintain depending on your content management system.

In a slightly related topic, check out these uber cool visited links: http://www.collylogic.com/index.php/weblog/comments/40/ - they're on the side panel - ticked items are visited.

The site will be a static one. Maybe i'll write a small CMS for the news part.

Nice site you pointed me to. The thing is I want to use a small amount of images on my site. Having 2 colours for links is not that much. Anyway, all the outer links have title="Opens in a new window" so i think i can use the same colour for all.

It will take some time to finish the site so i have plenty of time to decide. Thank you for the feedback.

I notice you're using XHTML transitional - why not shoot for Strict?
In the process of doing this you'll notice that the anchor TARGET attribute has been dropped - there's a nice work around for this: http://www.sitepoint.com/article/1041

I know about the TARGET thing and that was the main reason for not using Strict. I might reconsider it.

Nice article.

Now that you've said that it's quite a clever idea. Cool...

Good point edwin - it needed explaining, in which case it's probably not the best idea... does it really matter if you signify where a link goes? I know that I don't care if a link takes me off site.

I suppose you're right. I didn't get it first time round, as I'm sure many won't. The only reason I thought it may be a good idea, is that you know when you're leaving the site. I always like to keep the original site open, and open any external sites in new tabs in firefox. But you could always add the target tag to the external links to open them in a new window.

Hmm.

I do care if I click a link and BOOM a new page opens. I mean a page that goes to another site. If the link says that it will take me to another site I might not click it.

Anyway, this is a matter of taste.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. Perhaps there should be a key or something to tell new users what the difference is.
