I think it could have merits, yes. However, for it to get started, we'd need to have at least one or two people here who could answer questions from new users. I'm not one of them (see my user title).

Only person I know here with any experience in this stuff (and still very little) is Icon, and he's currently on hiatus from the internet...

I know that there are little users that know about this stuff, but if "our" forums add a forum like that, we'll attract more users' attention that have quite a knowledge on this subject! So, there's no way it'll be a bad thing! I mean if there's no post for three to four weeks the admin can simply erase it!!

I fail to see the relation between 3D Modelling and the type of content we currently cater to. Theoretically, these forums are in place to support the content of http://www.devarticles.com which, for the most part, is business application type stuff. If we targeted game development instead, I'd see more relevance.

Plus, I know nothing about 3D development... We don't need a forum that makes me feel dumber than I already am... ;-)

My opinion.

I think that a forum shouldn't be concerned about what a user, moderator (or the administrator) knows! I think that a forum should have many related to programming sections, like 3D Modelling and Animation, or else it won't be complete! I'm not saying that is urgent or something but I think these forums should contain something related to game programming, that either you want it or not gains more and more programmers!

I absolutely agree... my opinion does not weight the probability of this becoming a forum or not... If there's demand, and enough people with the skillset to support it, I'm sure it will happen.
