thread icons
I have a problem with the "new post" icons. Sometimes when I read a new post in a thread, it still shows as "unread post" in my "all posts by". It would be easier to check for responses to threads if I could scan for the colored icons rather than visit each thread just to check it. Has anyone else experienced this, or am I missing something?

Only happens to be when I browse with tabs, they still unread in the first tab that I view them, and I visit them in another tab, but if I go back in that new tab then they are marked as read.

read icons
I can't get the icons to change doing that either. I even changed my cookie settings to "allow siite to set cookies from other domains" but still no change.
I'll try with Opera and Netscape and post back. EDIT: Same with both Opera and Netscape. Just a thought, if these icon changes are tied in with cookies rather than a database, could my timezone settings in my CP options be involved? eg. if they're at EST but the cookies expire based on GMT. read post icons
I set my timezone to GMT. No difference. The only other thing that I can think of is that sometimes I post using my feed reader and sometimes with the browser. The feed reader is IE based (I think) and I use Firefox as my browser. But it still seems that if I read them and then go back to "all posts' the icon would change. I guess I'll have to be more consistant and see if that makes a difference.
Edit: still working on this, adding this edit in firefox to see if the icon will change to "read" Last edited by Mittineague : July 23rd, 2006 at 10:55 AM. Reason: testing a theory |

"problem" solved ??
:d'oh: After puzzling over this for some time, I've finally noticed the icon descriptions. I have been mis-interpreting the "hot" icons as meaning "unread". I still don't know why they seemed to change back (at least I thought they did), unless that was something to do with using the feedreader? ???
