devArticles IRC channel?

Does devArticles have a IRC channel somewhere? If not maybe we should make one and idle on it .

Thats not a bad idea, but ive got no idea how to set one up.

Yeah, it's pretty easy. I've been using it for about 4 years now. If your using Windows you can get mIRC. That has been the most popular client for several years. Also, implmenting Java IRC chat so site visitors without it can also chat but with limited features. All we need is someone to register a channel on a IRC network which I can do if needed. Registering channels are free. Maybe mytch can select a channel name and I can try to kind a good network to put it on. All channels start with the # sign so we could register #devarticles or something like that.

good idea. sure thing. register it wherever you like and i'll add a note on every page of the site that it's our "official" IRC chanel. #devArticles would be great by the way, just reply with the server name and port when you've done it and i'll give it a quick test then let everyone know about it

ok, i've got the channel all setup. the server is irc.gamesnet.net port 6667. alternatively you can connect to west.gamesnet.net for US West or east.gamesnet.net for US East. The channel name is #devarticles. You can get a full server list here to find the closest one to you. You will still need an IRC client like mIRC to connect. I'll try to find an easy step-by-step guide on setting up mIRC to connect to the server for you people who haven't used IRC before.

could you please tell me how to connect to the irc channel using mirc cos i have no idea

type /server irc.servername.com

then /join #devarticles

mIRC defaults to the most horrendous colourscheme, press alt+k to change them so u can read what people say.

make sure /umode +x is on too :\ (if its a cr server)
