could anybod tell me the difference between a simulator and an emulator

Simulators are usually software programs that perform like a certain piece of hardware would. Emulators act like a certain software program but not always exactly.

Of course, it's all semantics-- there are no set, hard-fast rules on usage, as far as I know.
