LARP stands for Live Action Role Play,


Its a sort of fantasy game in real.
On my site www.themuppeteer.tk you can see a picture of me (if you goto LARP) in an ogre costume. (the site might be a bit buggy, but i'm still working on it :-))
Its really fun, a weekend playing a different character without thinking or talking about anything else then about things that happen in the fantasy world. Killing orcs and ogres with swords and axes and giant hammers (made of late rubber). Wizards with spells and dwarfs and elves with elven spikey ears... its to much to say and explain in short ;-)

Et oui, je parle un peu de français, mais normallement je parle neerlandais. Le francais que je parle c'est ce que j'ai étudié a l'école..

Oooh I see.. I used to be into FFMRP <Free form medieval rp> on irc.. and a friend of mine is trying to get me to join his LARP group here in the Dallas TX area.. do you have fun with it?

Yes, larp is really fun ! I'm not such a good roleplayer but that does not really matter, I really enjoy all the aspects of it. The talking, the mysteries, the battles, the costumes and beautiful weapons, and in the evening when its to dark/cold to go outside (in the summer,we also play at night until 2 or 3 a clock ) there is the inn where the only thing to enlighten the room are candles (don't know if my english is that good) and that really creates a cool 'sphere'.
I should say, go on and try it! if you don't like it ,so be it but at least you tried something new :-)), and frankly I think you'll like it , all of the people I took with me until now (new people in larp)
are still playing and having lots of fun with it.

Sounds like fun!

I'm in the process of building myself (another) trebuchet.. I made a 1.5m <about 5 feet> tall one for my Physics class which threw a 1lb object 110 feet... This one cost me about $13 <US> to make. I have the frame built so far, I should have it finished tonight.. it's only going to be 1 foot tall

A friend of mine is a member of SCA www.sca.org and is wanting me to join with him... He said they would teach me fencing and to fight with a broadsword... and that they would also teach me how to make a longbow and a crossbow

I think I might just give him a call tonight...

Ahh... I see! Thanks for the explanation... It kinda reminds me of the "oldschool" days, where I used to play a game called L.O.R.D. (Legend of the Red Dragon)... It was on most BBS's..
