Heya.
Hello all, I just wanted to say hi. Name's Justin, I'm a student and I have recently learned about PHP from a friend of mine whom I work with.. It's really a great language from what I've seen so far
I started programming in basic way back when.. and learned pascal in Highschool, played around with HTML for a while but I got bored.. I haven't coded in about.. almost 6 years, until I started a project at work involving VB :-) but now I'm back into the habbit.. <uh oh!> and trying to absorb as much as I can.. |

nicat23,
Hello nicat23, I hope you feel welcome in our forums, and make sure to post any questions that you have. How long have you been learning PHP for? Love Kylie |

So far I've been coding in PHP for about 3 weeks.. I'm working on putting some webmail functionality into my website <which is also under developement>
I'm the owner and operator of Nitwitz.org The front page itself is blank, but I have my mailserver up and running -- it's been going strong for 3 months now! *knock on wood* using qmail as the MTA and vpopmail as my pop server.. Php is neat :-) I eventually want to make it so that members can sign up, sign in, and check their mail from the webpage instead of HAVING to use pop, if they don't want.. which.. I don't entirely understand, but some people are like that.. :P |

I like pop best too, but I can see why some people like webmail better.. My sister for example has no computer (with internet access) at home, but by using webmail she's able to access her mail account from library, school, friends, etc.. ![]() |

Yep, that's how my mom is... Everyone has their preference... Also, this will help eliminate the problems that I've been having with certain ISP's blocking all other SMTP connections other than their own <Mindspring is notorious for that>

Hey Ya'll.. Thanks for the welcomes
![]() Yeah, web mail is handy.. if I can ever get it fully functional Lack of time usually keeps me from finishing something.. but I am getting close..And yep, I've been using Bens articles, they are quite informative! I've learned more than I knew about sessions before <Which was absolutely nothing> Abstract thoughts sometimes don't sink in as quickly as they should with me.. but I finally got it ![]() Eventually I'm going to be adding in the functionality of being able to actually use the web mail and when people register, it will add them to my mailing list for a global list as well as actually registering an email account ![]() That part I don't think will be too hard considering all I've read about using PHP to execute commands so I have faith that it'll be simple, and if it's not simple I'll try my damnedest to make it that way! |

don't worry. Learning php is quite easy. I managed to pick up php in a matter of weeks. Just make sure that you keep trying, and read as many articles as you can.
