Does anyone know whats the best way to get new members to join a new chat forum without spamming?

The content is OK its how to get people to know about the site is the problem.

yeh im having the same problem with my new forum.


Any ideas anyone?

I submitted to yahoo and google but it will be 2-8 weeks before it appears..IF it does

Try and get other sites to link to your site. This can really help search engine results.

Also, people will only join your forum if there is activity. Sign yourself up with a few dummy accounts and make some posts, so that it seems that the community is active.

I'm happy to say that when you type in the name in google it is the top site and if you hit I'm feeling lucky you go straight there.

Good idea about the dummy accounts - I do a bit of talking to myself for a while!! If anyone wants to join to support me send me a pm and I'll give you the address.

Spread the word around about the forum. The more people you get, the more you have to potentialy sign up!

it depends on the orientation of your forum.
