Microsoft embracing Linux?
According to the SF Chronicle, MS and Novell have hashed out some sort of deal.
![]() Business Week has a little more on it.

I caught that on CNet as well
I don't find it as exciting as the headlines make it sound. The focus will be on three technical areas: virtualization, Web services for server management, and Microsoft Office-OpenOffice.org compatibility... It also sounds like Xen and "Viridian" will simply agree to test and support Windows and Suse... meh... I was hoping we'd see MS produce a proper Media Player plugin or something for Linux... hoping it would lead to other major corporations ensuring official compatibility (Apple's iPod, Quicktime and iTMS, I'm looking in your direction)... Unfortunately I was a bit ahead of myself.

Yeah, that's the way I saw it... They'll add Open Office to the import section of Word and Excel and the call it a day.

Open Office isn't exactly a "Linux" product anyways... it's not like MS Office doesn't already support various other Office products... blah...
Maybe I'm missing the point, but I just don't see the big deal. |
