Monitoring Upload/Download Quantity

Hey all,

As I'm sure most of us are aware, we're either with an ISP who is already bit-capping their users, or with an ISP that is transitioning to that business-model... Either way it stinks!!

Anyways, I'm currently thinking about whether or not to drop my current Cable provider to go for a DSL connection... For the last couple of months, I have noticed a drastic decrease in speed and relability with my current provider...

The problem is that the new provider I'm looking at has a 10GB upload/download limit per month...

I was wondering if there were any programs out there that would allow me to monitor activity on my network (3 PCs) to tell me how much I'm transfering per month... I'd like to know if I'm well under the 10GB limit before making the switch!

Thanks!

if you have Linux you can install squid, which is a proxy server of sorts.. I believe that it has a function in it to monitor traffic volume.. Not sure though

Frankie,

I don't know if you have found the answer to your question yet or not, but I will give you a link out of my bookmarks:

Wil,

Thanks for the link... I'll look into it tomorrow!

Off hand, do you know if it monitors traffic from multiple systems on the same network?

Of hand... I can't say. I've not really had a use for it so I haven't really played with it.

No problem... I'll have to take a look at it this weekend.

Thanks again!
