The post was removed because it didn't pertain to web development, and now that we have the forum posts back on the front page, it looked odd seeing the busiest post as "400 posts!". As you can imagine, it will just confuse new visitors, etc.
Lets keep posts on topic... |

SELECT * FROM posts WHERE forumid != lizardloungeid
I think we need a place for idle chit-chat |

Just thought that I'd post the title of this part of the forum.. kind of thought that it would be fitting.. That's the reason why I asked why it was removed, mytch.. you said it was removed because it wasn't about web development.. so... yeah... Thanks for clearing that up.. I think.. |

Feel free to chat about whatever you like guys.. but I just didn't want the post showing on the homepage under "Busy Forum Posts", which it was... I just want all of those to be developer related, so newbies feel comfortable and aren't confused, thats all

well this is a community forums, so if you go and delete our posts, regardless of what they are related to, then whats the point of posting?
wouldnt it have been better to rename the post then just to delete it? |

If you wanted only developer posts, why are you displaying the posts from the community forum? It isnt that hard to create a query to get developer only posts. Also what happens if another community post makes into the top ten... are you going to delete that as well? |

mytch, that is really lame for deleting me. Just because I have a valid point! It wouldnt be that hard just to spam the forums if you want to play these childish games!

As both Ben and Nicat stated. The Lizard Lounge is a community forum for conversations not neccessarily related to developing. I understand you don't want these posts listed on the home page as the most active or largest posts but there has to be a way to change the code to exclude the Lizard Lounge(and any others you want excluded). Now that my 2 cents are in I will go back to working on my site
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I know this is a serious conversation but :::CHornJr puts on his riot gear and goes and hides:::

Man.. if these are the kinds of childish games that are going to be played, making it so that someone who has an opinion about the site and how things should or shouldnt be run is put on a global ignore list, or completely DELETING them, I don't know if I can post here anymore. I love the site, and I love the people, delete me if you really feel that that's neccesary mytch, but unless things change then I won't post any more, period. I don't want to risk it. *shrugs and smirks, sitting on his couch, and waiting* I guess whoever wants to keep the complete record of my posts that they better run a web archive client on this site.

Alright guys,
I understand everyone's concerns... And I have to sit on the fence for this one... In part I agree with each side (if there is even a side)... For those who are feeling discouraged, I can assure you that you don't need to feel as though you cannot post your opinions. This is a free forum discussion, and opinions are valued as much as your knowledge... While there may be some issues to deal with, please disregard anything that may have happened in this thread, and continue on... I don't want to close this thread, as it would discredit the entire purpose of my code... As such, I trust that everyone will remain mature! Oh... and have fun! ![]()

The point im trying to make is that, why should you delete the most popular post in the forums (yes, it was the most popular), because you dont want it shown on the front page? There are several other options mytch could have taken, such as renamed the thread, or created a query for only developer posts?
Im sure you guys would have to agree with me on this one. |

Guys,
There's nothing stopping you from re-creating a post exactly like that, and there's no problem with it... We've just setup a partnership with one of the biggest content sites on the Net, and they users are mostly basic web designers, hence the reason for having the most relevant posts appear at the top of the list on the front page. The query on the front page has also been fixed up to only grab posts from the relevant developer forums. Most of them have filtered through now, so as I said, feel free to post again. Let's just be mature about this and move on... |
