What is your view on outsourcing?
OK guys and gals, I'm sure that each of you in their own time has either known someone, or worked for someone who was an outsource group. I know I used to work for an oursource group for Dell computer's.. What do you guys think, is it helping, or hindering the economy when we (as a global community) send jobs over seas?

There's a bit of a row going on over here atm with a very large corp's planning on sending a lot of IT work over to India - esp IBM and telstra.... I don't really have an opinion on it - a company I worked for (there were only 5 employees) actually considered it too - sending all out grunt work (HTML coding) over there - I wouldn't have minded. Then again, I can see why people would be upset.... It all comes down to the all mighty dollar.

I'm not a big fan of unbridled market forces where workers in the first world communities are forced to compete with workers from the developing nations, many of them as talented as their first world counterparts.
Most of the US's manufacturing has gone overseas; now the tech jobs are going the same route. Software development is making many jobs obsolete... and scads of workers who went through years of vocational training or college are being laid off, or forced to take menial jobs because they're not able to compete in a global market. Who wins?? Multi-national corporations who feel they owe no allegiance to their workers, nations, etc. They're a law unto themsleves with a gdp and collateral greater than most nation states. Meanwhile American families (Anglos, Hipsanic, Indian, Afro-American, and more) are taking it in the neck. We need legislation to protect American jobs and build up the US economy rather than building up the economies of our competitor nations at the expense of US workers (who are also consumers of the products made overseas in our consumer driven economy) - that's one man's viewpoint. It ain't going to happen, however, as capital is a harsh task master when left to its own devices. What's in store in the US?? Expansionist NGO, healthcare, and governmental organizations, lawyers, CPAs and bankers dominating the economy. |
