Windows Me Changing .swf and Index files to capital lerrers!

Hi,

I might be a bit of an amature at this but i recently reformatted
my computer and reinstalled windows me. I intended it to be used for
picking up faxes and uploading my files to the web server but for some reason
win ME is changing index.htm, flash.swf, flashmovie1.swf the file names to all capital
letters!! I can fix the HTML files by renaming the index and opening it up in notepad and resaving it
but i cannot do that with the flash files. Please help you could be saving the life of an innocent computer!

I am in a bit of trouble at the moment so please help.
