character encoding
What is the character encoding of the 2 pages. Is one UTF-8 and the other not?

encoding
Don't feel bad. Character encoding is poorly understood by the majority of the very few that understand it at all (including myself). And it is easily and often over-looked as a possible cause of "weird characters showing up". The trick is to find a suitable encoding and be consistant with using it. In your text editors, your pages and feeds, and your database settings.
But don't feel bad if you forget and make a similar mistake again. Now that you've been "once bitten", the next time you see "weird characters" you'll know where to look. |
