e-Covers
Would anyone care to explain what covers SiteCubed used to create their electronic version of their boxed software?
I've seen a few programs that do this and haven't found anything to my liking. Any tips or lessons learned would be cool. Heck -- even an article would be nice. |

It's really quite simple. I've used photoshop to achieve the effect before, but I'm sure it's possible, if not easier, in 3D Studio Max, or a similar dedicated 3D app.
Anyway... fire up photoshop, get your "cover" on a new layer. Then, it's simply a matter of using "Transform" to alter the perspective. Hit ctrl + t (hold down ctrl while dragging to change the perspective, rather than the dimensions). Move your image into the desired position, then do the side panel using the same method. Add a drop shadow or reflection to enhance. I've also seen it done by drawing a cube using the 3D Transform Filter, and you manually map your image over the cube shape. This method can be rather hit and miss though, as the 3D filter is next to useless in a bitmap application. |
