Free Web Hosting?

There are various offers of free web hosting like that by Yahoo. Are they worth messing with…maybe just for practice?

Or do they just waste your time if you’re trying to learn to create and launch a more effective site?

Well if they offer all the services you want, then they're probably fine. But the adverts etc may annoy you, so you'll probably be better off paying for your own hosting.

Depends on your level of dedication.
If you're just messing around with HTML basics, why not get free space... although I agree with the ads being annoying, and they tend to mess up your HTML...
You could check with your ISP, I know many ISPs offer free webspace.

If you plan on doing any server side scripting, like PHP or ASP or J2EE, you might be best to either install servers on your own home computer, or buy web hosting space.

If you plan on having a domain name, its usually best to pay for hosting space.
