Whew boy! So many choices. If you are familiar with HTML coding I suggest you look into PHP with MySQL. The Dev site has lots of good artcles to learn from. Also, Sitepont offers a free 4 chapter download on PHP w/ MySQL that should prove helpful. http://www.sitepoint.com/books/phpm...fec1ad6fb354a1c
I hand-code in a text editor, but many developers use CMS and WYSIWYG especially with larger sites. If you don't like PHP look into JSP, CFML, NET and other languages. There are many databases to choose from as well, Oracle, Postgre, etc.
