Opinions please

I am working with a designer on my latest project. Overall i am happy with the work he has produced but something about the site is not quite right. I think the layout is too busy with too much going on. Maybe the proportions of the images and text box doesn't work. I don't really know what to tell him to fix the situation and could do with a designers eye.
The site doesn't have much content and there is a good chance it will throw up a error or two as the programming side is under heavy development.

the address is http://www.parentprojectuk.org
thanks for any help

Hey Toby - you are right. There is too much going on. There's too much of a "mish-mash" of ideas occuring... i.e. there's no one theme or style, no flow.

The top banner section is all over the shop, theme-wise. Lines, dots, gradients, colorized photo's... pick one or two of these elements only, and go with that throughout the site.

The nav rollovers (which don't seen to be pre-loaded), look too photoshoppy, which is bad. Also, the flyouts don't seem to match up to well with the curvy nav style. You could remove the curve on the nav all together to get a bit of flow happening w/ the flyouts.

Finally - too much blue... options:
you could reduce the amount of blue used.
make the window bigger to give the site a bit more air.
add in some other colours (check the color scheme tool thread in this forum category).

HTH,
stumpy

Thanks stumpy (BTW that has been my nick name ever since a unfortunate accident with a woodwork saw)

I am having a meeting with the designer today so i'll put those ideas to him see what he comes back with. I'd like your opinion on the changes

That colour picker is great, i'll be using that in the future deffo!
