Thumbs up Seven tricks that Web users don't know

Seven tricks that Web users don't know

They may seem obvious to you, but less-technical users are frequently stymied by issues like these here: http://www-106.ibm.com/developerwor...wzone=usability

Any other not mentioned in the above article?

I find some of those issues shocking. How can you not figure out what the "refresh" button might be for? Don't people just click things to try them out? Given how Windows prompts for confirmation prior to doing anything catastrophic to your system or your data (generally), I'm really surprised Windows users aren't more adventurous.

Most people that I watch don't use the popdown previously entered URL while typing in a new URL. Most are unaware that it is unnecessary to type in the www as well.

Great article!

Hmm - www is often required. I am always surprised at how badly large companies setup their DNS. I usually try and leave off www, but more often than not, I need to add it... and it ****s me. Only http:// isn't requried these days.

Ditto: great article! I especially liked the cascading menus section. I'm overly tired with overly complex cascading menus - they look beautiful, but can be a real drag if not well implemented. I thought I was the only one that hated them. Thanks Webnauts.
