The Till
Like a lot of folks, I’m poor and hoping to sell some stuff with my website so I can afford to have it. I see PayPal popping up here and there and have occasionally been the payer but not yet the payee so I have no idea how it works…except that I’m a little poorer each time. Are there a lot of web money transaction options like PayPal and are they east to integrate into your site? Are they pretty much safe and automatic once set up or do you have to hover around them with a shotgun? Does anybody have any preferences or suggestions for a beginner who might not be dealing with such sums as those that Bill Gates has to put up with at least on the first few days? |

Check the paypal website!
Put quite simply although I accep no liability if I am wrong: You create a merchant paypal account (to send and recieve) they take a percentage of what you recieve, and impose limits and charges on what you withdraw, as all monies are stored in your paypal account until you decide to withdraw them into another account. Paypal are very secure but no system is bullet proof even credit cards, if you don't want to pay for a merchant bank account paypal is the best way and as for payment it is linked to your e-mail address AND you can link to yor personal payment page. Ie your customer could log in to their paypal account at www.paypal.com and opt to pay you@you.com x ammount and when you see the payment clear you despatch the goods. Or they click on a button on your site that redirects them to a page with all your details alleay filled in and they just enter the relevent user name and password. Wether you go down this route depends on wether you want to make hundreds or thousands and if the profits you make will off set the levys paypal charge. allthough as they ae part of the same group pf companies as ebay you may as well try sell your stuff there too and then link back to your page, you get charged if you make a lising but look out for the free listing week offers and even if you sell the item or not the listing costs you nother and it may drum up hits to your site and then potential customers may go there first next time! |
