Website design software for a newbie

Can someone recommend an easy to use Website desgn software? I have been looking at, and testing GoLive CS2. The truth is that it is very complex for a beginner and I simply would not be able to afford the software.

I am not looking for free software. I have my own fixed IP and server software, and wish to host the website on my workstation. I am simply trying to expand my understanding of web based software.

All recommendations would be appreciated, and this includes individual users' preferences, as I am interested in all input.

I've always liked Macromedia's Dreamweaver, but notepad really gives you the most flexibility and power...

Are you referring to Microsoft's lowly Notepad, bundled with the operating system???

You bet I am! =)
HTML pages can be created in any text editor... although notepad is quite basic (I prefer textpad), it does do the job.

I assume you're looking for a more visual editor (W.I.S.I.W.Y.G.), in which case I use Dreamweaver... but what good is designing webpage when you don't understand the HTML? A knowledge of how to create HTML pages and stylesheets in notepad is a perfect foundation.

Macromedia Dreamweaver is a good option with all its tools, but, as MadCowDzz said, the better way to design pages its using text editors like Crimson Editor, or UltraEdit.

I suggest the software Macromedia Dreamweaver which is user friendly and easily accessible by novice. So try for that...

Have a nice day..........

Thanks & Regards
