Which software to buy?
Howdy, I’m at the point of having to make up my mind about what web design/authoring software I want to invest in. There are so many and I have no way of knowing which to pick so I’m asking around. I’m sure there are a lot of different opinions but I am a beginner and have to start somewhere so any suggestions are appreciated. |

I really like Dreamweaver but it's quite expensive. Do you want a WYSIWYG editor, or is a text editor suitable?

*cringes* WYSIWYG =)
Personally, I *love* TopStyle. Its a CSS editor, but the full version could be used as an HTML editor as well. Check them out at Bradsoft If you're doing scripting and server side stuff, I've been using TextPad... although PHPEdit is a great program for PHP specific development! If you insist WYSIWYG, I'll agree that Dreamweaver is tops... but try not rely on WYSIWYG... you'll achieve better results by hand. |
