Ruby on Rails hosting

Does anyone know of a good hosting company that supports Ruby?

Preferably inexpensive with high bandwidth stream.

AVLUX Solutions specializes in Ruby on Rails and personal service. Multi-homed high bandwidth hosting.

Has anyone ever used Text Drive?
I'm considering their "One-Time-Payment Mixed Grill"

I've put together a searchable directory of Ruby on Rails hosting plans from all the key companies around the Net. The hosts are currently marketing the Rails community heavily but there are plenty of die-hard Ruby fans out there who don't give a hoot about this new framework.

Check out www.HostingRails.com

Cheers,

~William

The short answer to the question - for those who don't want to weed through lists/databases of hosting plans - is that DreamHost's Crazy Domain Insane plan gives you 20GB space and 1 TB of bandwidth to host unlimited domains with a 97 day money-back guarantee. Use the promo code 50OFFRAILS and you'll get $50 knocked off your bill instantly for any of their plans.

No, i'm not from DreamHost. - but i'm pretty impressed with their hosting. They just passed the 200,000 domain mark and are still able to keep their customers happy. Downsides are the usual for large hosts (support response time, random short outages, etc...) but if you're looking for a place to test out some Rails apps its a good place to go.

I actually signed up for TextDrive's grilling thing (I linked above).
I love the idea of one-time-fee. In theory, if I remain with them for 10 years, it's only $50 a year... compared to the $160 I paid for PHP hosting the past three years...

TextDrive does Ruby/Rails, Python, PHP4, PHP5, Perl, and all kinds of other junk... plus it seems more hands on than my last host was (be that good or bad)... unlimited domains...

Also, I love the idea of automatic sub domains. Meaning if your page is http://www.example.com/folder you can access the same page using http://folder.example.com
Sweet and easy!

William01, your link seems like an excellent resource... I could have used that before I put my money down on TextDrive... nonetheless, so far no complaints with TextDrive. Their support seems extraordinary, and they really encourage a community attitude.

Dreamhost sounds pretty sweet too, however frankly, I don't think I need that much space/bandwidth. =)

Yeah - DH really serves as a garden to seed, water, and sprout as many Rails apps as you have time for...If you're ready to rock and roll then there are many good options to choose from. 'Glad TextDrive is working well for you - I completely appreciate the fact that half of their sales goes toward Rails development.

Cheers,

~William
