hey i wanted to move the location for my web site from the /var/www to /home/admin. i changed the config file, but now i get a 403 forbidden message, how do i enable the server to serve from that folder?
If it can't be done then how do i get the ftp deamon thats included with mandrake lunix to serve the /var/www, so that i can publish the site from a romote computer? thanks a lot, this forum has been very helpfull. |

Just to cover the bases, did you restart apache after modifying the conf?

yes i did get that far, I had the site working fine under the /var/www directory, but i wanted to beable to ftp the site from a remote computer. The ftp daemon only allowed me to ftp to the /home/admin and i don't know how to change that. So i copied the entire www folder to /home/admin/www, changed the config files, and restarted apache using the apachectl restart command.
Thanks a lot zimzim321 |

What're the permissions on /home/admin/www? By default, home directories tend to have limited permissions. Try making sure /home/admin/www has read permissions across the board -- make the permissions for that directory match those for /var/www and you'll probably find your issue resolved.
