do you use a router or a firewall?
sometimes you have to disable your firewall and/or tell your router to forward port requests to your computer i trust you can use http://localhost and http://127.0.0.1 ? what happens if you try http://[your-ip-address] from your computer? |

Re: apache help
Quote:
your hosting provider has port 80 disabled to you from the web, i mean you can view it on your network but as far as others trying to access your site can't.

More than likely madcow is right about the router or firewall, you have to make sure that the port forwarding is open for port 80 and that it's going the the propper internal ip address, otherwise, depending on what operating system you're using, IE, XP, 2K, linux, etc, you'll need to try taking other actions based on what OS you are using, I know that XP has built in firewall software and you'll need to open up port 80 through the software firewall...
And aspman might be right too, some providers block port 80 for incoming traffic, you need to read your TOS for more details on if they allow you to host websites, ftp, etc, to your computer... HTH |
