Apache & SSI

Im running Apache 2 on Windows. I have been trying to get SSI to work via the Apache tutorial but haven't had any sucsess. I cant even get an error message, it just doesn't work.

I haven't tried using a .htaccess yet, but I tried making the proper changes in httpd.conf. Can anyone help me and explain what I need to do in simle terms.

I know this isnt directly related to PHP but any help would be appreciated.

Also I only have .shtml parsed for includes, if I need to use the include in .php pages will I need it parsed to?
