Help needed setting up apache server

Hi!!

I need some help to set up Apache server on my PC(windows XP)
The details are as:
a)LAN connectivity to the main college server which provides internet access. The main college server used as proxy server to connect to the internet.
b)Hubs used to connect all the computers in the hostel with each other.
c)I.P assigned by the main server

I have been trying for quite some time but the pages do not open on any browser from a different computer on the LAN.
Please guide on configuring the server and all other details.

Does your computer have a firewall installed?
You may want to consulte your LAN administrators.

Yes i have McAfee firewall installed but granted Apache full access to the network.
Also the server is accessible using any FTP client(CuteFTP), but the pages do not open on any browser. The client shows all the files that are shared.

Does it make a difference if you disable McAfee?

Have you looked into file permissions?
You're using windows, so this usually isn't an issue, but check to make sure anonymous people have access.

Does the Apache log say anything?

Hi

I think you need to do DMZ configuration on the main router. you need to forward ports. read more about port forwarding and DMZ type your default gateway address on your browser to goto the configuration menu.

i came here to find how to setup SSL on apache server

cheers

why does he need to do a dmz configuration on a router? setting up apache with ssl is easy, that is if you have a linux distro. on windows, you;re going to have to do a google search about that.
