client-side

JavaScript is client-side which means that is intrepretated by the user browser you don't have to install it in Apache.

Concerning ASP I can't help much...

I belive that you have to install ASP in your server and to add some lines in the httpd.conf file from the Apache....

Maybe some else can explain that...

Apache does not support ASP...
There are thirdparty modules you can install, but seeing as they're not proper Microsoft products I don't recommend it.
ASP is best run on IIS
