Not sure what it has to do with IIS. There are so many things it could be though. Are you using a machine as a gateway? What's the network setup?

What do mean when u say the server has been "randomly going out"?
Yeah, I doubt IIS will have anything to do with the problem. So are you saying the "main computer" (lets call it the workstation) is the gateway. Do you have a firewall? Might wanna check it's settings. |

Are you completely positive that it isn't your ip releasing and renewing itself? That exact thing happens when my provider decides that my lease is up on my ip, and it forces a renew.. I (almost) always get the same IP back however..
also, I would recomend using a router as a firewall instead of a computer as a gateway, that way if your main computer goes down your website doesn't.. And FYI, I don't use IIS for my main web server.. am using apache on a *nix machine |

You can check and see if that is happening by making a log of what your IP Address is in the morning, and checking it at night.. There's not anything you can do to stop it, other than get a service that provides a static IP instead of a dynamic one <They are usually more costly however>
It usually does the swap to give all of the customers an opportunity to have an IP.. it's just a way of recycling it so that old IPs get used again, that way they don't have to manually add them to others accounts.. Saves the providers time and money |

if you're on cable: get a firewall - i can't stress this enough. Whether you like them or not, they are necessary.

The only thing I could recomend then would be to contact your provider for your broadband and let them know what is happening.. but, they may cancel you if they don't allow their users to host external web services off of their bandwidth.. I know some content providers don't allow you to have irc servers or web servers, mail servers, etc because it "Takes away from their content and from their bandwidth"
Read your ELUA and make sure that they don't mind you hosting before you contact them about it... ![]() and a good recomendation for a firewall would be the Netgear RT314. http://www.shentech.com/netrtingatds.html |

I read some mention of a "gateway"... I'm not sure how this related to my problems, but lately, my wireless card has been acting up... And I can't figure out where the problem lies.
I'm on a wireless router/switch, and on my notebook, I have the wireless card setup, but there's also a gateway in my "Network Connections" setup... Should I remove the gateway or is it required? My connection has been going off and on as well, and I can't figure out what could be causing it.
