php + apache+mysql installation on linux

hi guys!

i am a linux newbie and i want to setup apache with php and mysql support on my linux box.

i'm using apache 1.3.26,php 4.2.3 and mysql 3.23.51.

installation for apache and mysql work like charm.
i have no trouble installing php too..but when comes to starting the apache web server..i got this error:

Failed to start apache :

Syntax error on line 222 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: mysql_field_count
/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started

i'm installing from the source file..and i already checked the httpd conf file..everything looks fine.i wonder what went wrong..so i hope u guys can help me here...thanx a bunch!

Possibly, you just forget to restart your Apache server afer httpd.cnf was changed. And what progamm u use for change this file? It is can be important.
