(After this machine is configured I was going to make it a dedicated server)
Ok, first things first here are my comp specs: __________________________________________________ _____________________ Windows XP Professional SP2 Pentium III, 451 MHz, 128MB RAM. Server software: Apache 2.0.54 (Win32) Didn't want to use IIS No-ip DUC Serv-u registered professional Network status: Modem: Touchstone Telephony Modem manufactured by the Arris Company Cox Cable internet upgraded (4MB) Running through Wireless-B Broadband Router BEFW11S4 __________________________________________________ _____________________ I have no static IP so I am using the No-ip service. I have disabled both the Windows XP Professional firewall and the router's firewall and I forwarded all access ports to this computer's IP. Just to be on the safe side I also changed the host file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc to the following: 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.100 localxbox.no-ip.org <-------- Basic port 80 request 192.168.1.100:655 localxbox.servehttp.com <--------------- just incase port 80 is blocked by my ISP Now to the problem: When I type in both the localxbox.no-ip.org address and the localxbox.servehttp.com address I see the site. But when I type in those address to megaproxy.com or when someone outside my network type it in they get a connection timeout. I think it is either that or it can't connect. Can someone please tell me why this is happening? (if you go to localxbox.no-ip.org you get "Fuera de servicio. En un par de horas estaremos en servicio. NuestraRed" which is basically a connection timeout.) |

the problem isn't odd at all, simply your pc doesn't have the software needed in order to have people outside your network view the site.
the problem lies within your router

hmm
asp_man.... he is already running a server he needs no other software ... with that said
192.168.1.100 = local ip if you type it in your webbrowser the linksys config page should come up default pass i think is admin or something of the sort google it but look for port forwarding you need to forward port 80 after you forward your ports on your router use a website to get your ip address like whatismyip.com it will get your external ip addy and not the network ip that ipconfig brings up you use that for your webserver addy Signed - The Webmaster Expected To Know Everything Or Wouldent Be Webmaster |
