Web Server on Windows XP
OK I know the obvious absurdity of the Title of this thread. Yes I'm looking to use Apache or some other free Web Server on a laptop running Windows XP. This is for developmental purposes only. I'm stuck in Iraq and have no other resources or options, so putting all of the head scratching and snickering aside if you will for a minute, does anyone know of a solution that would fit the need.
I'm looking at using Apache, Mysql, and PHP. I have never used any of these services and I want to get familiar with them before I get home from Iraq. Is there a way to put these on Windows XP Professional? If not are there any solutions that would work on Windows XP. Thanks All |

Well I guess if I would have done a little searching I would have found the answers to my question before having to ask the question. Since this is here I guess I would ask if anyone else has any other web solutions setup on windows XP. I'm not looking for anything specific, just out of curiosity. When I leave Iraq here and go back to my Job, I'm always looking for new and interesting configurations and things of that nature. I work as a system integrator. I make this DB talk to that application, or share this resource, or do this one thing that the off the shelve product could not do by placing Code here or there. So I always like to get a feel for what is going on out thee.

apache 2 is your best option, or Microsoft IIS it's easier to setup, but you'll have to have the windows xp cd to install it though.
