Hi,
i just installed apache 2.0.49 with php 4.3.6 on a newly formatted and installed winxp machine (with all windows updates). Here is the problem. a phpinfo() php file works fine. Html works fine. But if i go to URL, it shows up some glibberish: this is part of what it shows for one of my jpg files: Code:
!!-,,,-2222222222
"" ""++)++2222222222``"?

If i try to view an swf, or an swf embedded in an html file, the swf file does not load or show up. When i right click it, it just shows the movie not loaded menu. If i load a page from my server with the picture embeded, it shows the red x, but if i open the html page up normally (not from server) it works fine. What is weird is that, when i installed apache, i typed URL and it showed the test page, with the apache gif working properlly. But then, if i copy an htm file with a gif or jpeg embeded to the htdocs folder, it doesnt seem to work. but if i link it to the apache gif it works. I also didnt make any changes to the httpd.conf file. ANy ideas on how i could fix that? My mime.types file is as it was, no changes to it, and jpeg and swf mime types is in it. thanks Metal Fusion |

Did you just update your firewall? I upgraded zone alarm, which didn't allow anything over 64kb through. I shut down the service which helped, but I had to completely uninstall it to fix the problem.
Check out the Apache bugs list. This page (http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10598) explained it for me. Mike |

hi mike,
thanks for your reply. it seems like zonealarm 5.0 is causing the problem! (just did some tests). i tried using Win32DisableAcceptEx on but it doesnt seem to work. Did you come up with a solution to allow apache and zonealarm to work properly? thanks Metal Fusion |

No, I just uninstalled it. I really didn't want to mess with it anymore.
